Biometric data policy

“Face data” means measurements of a face, like its shape and the position of the eyes, nose and mouth, that can be made from a photo. Laws in places like Illinois, Texas, Colorado and Washington call this a biometric identifier or biometric information. In the EU and UK it’s special category data. This policy is our public retention schedule and our rules for destroying it.

We don’t use it to recognize who you are, to match you against other people, to build a face database, or for ads or marketing.

Uploading a photo means you agree to this policy for that photo. If you upload a photo of someone else, you confirm they’re 18 or older, have read this policy and agreed to have their face used this way.

If you don’t agree, you can still browse and watch sample videos. You just can’t upload a photo.

When it’s destroyed7 days after upload, or sooner if you tap Delete now or delete your account.

Either way, uploaded photos and the face data taken from them are deleted within 7 days of upload. That’s far inside the limits the law sets (1 year in Texas, 3 years in Illinois).

Deletion is automatic. A scheduled job removes expired photos from our storage every night, and a second storage rule removes anything the job missed. When you delete a photo, it’s removed right away. When you delete your account, the rest goes when its 7-day grace period ends.

We never sell, lease or trade face data, or otherwise profit from it.

It’s processed only by Reelfie and the service providers that run our AI generation for us, and only to make your result. We disclose it to anyone else only if the law requires it, such as a valid warrant or subpoena.

We protect your photos at least as carefully as our other sensitive information: encrypted in transit and at rest, private storage, and access limited to the systems and people that need it.
