Quick answer
Download the MP4 itself instead of screen-recording it, upload it from your camera roll, and leave it at 9:16. Before you post, turn on the high-quality upload option if your app shows one, and turn off Data Saver. Then let it finish processing before you judge it.
An AI video can look crisp on your phone and soft once it’s on TikTok. Almost always, that happens on the way there: a screen recording, a resave in another app, or an upload setting that shrinks it.
Here is how to get the video from Reelfie to TikTok with nothing lost. It works for any trend template video, and mostly for Reels and Shorts too.
Step 1 · Download the original
Open the video in Assets and tap Download. You get the MP4 file itself, and on a phone it goes to your camera roll or Files.
Don’t screen-record the video to save it. A screen recording is a copy of a copy: it picks up your screen’s size, the status bar and any compression on the way, and TikTok then compresses it again.
Sending it to your phone from a computer? AirDrop, a cloud drive or a file link keep the original. Many chat apps resize video to save data.
Step 2 · Keep it 9:16
Every Reelfie video is 9:16, the vertical shape TikTok, Reels and Shorts fill the screen with. Don’t crop or zoom it in the TikTok editor: zooming in makes each pixel bigger and the video softer.
Want to add text or stickers? Keep them away from the bottom and the right edge, where the caption and buttons sit.
Step 3 · Check two settings
- 1On the post screen, open the extra options and look for a high-quality upload setting. Turn it on if it’s there.
- 2In TikTok’s settings, find Data Saver and turn it off. With it on, the app can upload and play video at a lower quality.
TikTok moves and renames these from time to time, so the exact names in your app may be a little different. Upload on Wi-Fi when you can.
Step 4 · Post, then give it a minute
Add your caption and the trend’s sound or hashtag, and post. Right after posting, TikTok may show a lower-quality version while it finishes processing. Give it a few minutes before you decide it looks soft.
Adding the trend’s sound? Turn the original audio down rather than off if you want to keep any of it. Most trend posts use the sound alone.
Reels and Shorts
The same steps work elsewhere. On Instagram, look for the high-quality upload option in the app’s data or media settings. On YouTube Shorts, upload the MP4 from your camera roll. Both expect 9:16, so there is nothing to change.
Prefer to send a link? Every video has a share link that plays on any phone, no app needed. Each video is private until you share it.
Common problems
It looks soft after posting
Wait for processing to finish, then check the high-quality upload setting and Data Saver.
Black bars at the top and bottom
The file was resaved in another shape. Download the original MP4 again and upload that.
The status bar shows in the video
That is a screen recording. Download the file instead.
The video got smaller after sending it to your phone
The chat app compressed it. Use AirDrop, a cloud drive or a file link.
FAQ
Is there a watermark?
Paid renders have no watermark. Videos made with free credits carry a small one.
Can I use the trend’s music?
Yes. Add the sound inside TikTok when you post, so it links to the trend and shows up alongside other posts.
What happens to my photo?
Your photos are deleted 7 days after upload and never used to train AI.
Can I post a video of a friend?
Only with their permission, and only if they are 18 or older. Ask before you post, not after.
